Kauffman Will Step Down From City Council Seat

October 7th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Making the announcement via his Facebook page, Cumberland City Councilman David Kauffman announced that he will be stepping down from the city council at the end of December as a result of securing a new job out of town. In what Kauffman describes as an exciting new chapter in his life, effective October 26, 2015, he  will assume the duties as Coordinator of Music Programs for the Anne Arundel County Public Schools. His family- Jen, Kaitlyn, and Sam- will remain in Allegany County for the balance of the school year and will then move to Anne Arundel in June of next year. He will vacate his position as vice principal at Braddock Middle School later this month and  will be stepping down from his seat on the Cumberland City Council effective January 1. Mayor Brian Grim said the search for a replacement will begin in earnest in a few months, with the city having 60 days to fill the seat following the date of Kauffman’s resignation. The seat is filled by way of an appointment by majority of the city council. After reviewing letters of interest and resumes, the council will conduct interviews before making a final selection.
