Kelly Updates Rolling Mill Progress

An update on the Maryland Avenue Redevelopment Project was part of a brief meeting Tuesday afternoon of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation. The project extends from the Rolling Mill neighborhood beside Interstate 68 to the Martin's Food plaza, to Lamont Street. Officials said plans at the site could be expanded to include areas around the Queen City Pavement by possibly adding a bus station at the site.  The CEDC  announced last month that a contract transferring ownership of CEDC-owned properties in the Rolling Mill neighborhood to the developer has officially closed. A total of 48 parcels are now in the hands of Cumberland Gateway Real Estate- which will move forward with converting the corridor into a commercial/retail district complete with a hotel, sit-down restaurant, fast-service restaurant, convenience store and shops. CEDC executive director Paul Kelly says that Cumberland Gateway is still negotiating with several Rolling Mill property owners…

    Yet, there are still property owners who have not heard word one from anyone in the form of a valid offer on their property.
