Keyser City Council Gives Approval To Pursue Idea Of Vacant Property Ordinance

July 25th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The Keyser City Council gave unanimous approval Wednesday for city administrator Randy Amtower to resume pursuing the idea of establishing a vacant property ordinance for the city. Amtower had originally proposed the idea of requiring all vacant properties to be registered last year, when he was serving in the mayoral seat. The council members dropped the idea, however, when a small group of people attended a council meeting to oppose the idea. Shortly after stepping down as mayor and assuming the position of city administrator, Amtower revisited the idea when several residents – including Karol Ashenfelter, who is now serving on the council – complained to the officials about the growing number of blighted properties in the city.
