Keyser man arrested following shotgun incident

August 10th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

A 42-year-old Keyser man was jailed early Wednesday after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at a woman at his residence, according to the Keyser Police Department. The Cumberland Times News reports William Paul Sears II was charged with felony wanton endangerment involving a firearm when he was arrested without incident at about 1:20 a.m. at his residence on Carskadon Road. The arrest was made when Sears exited the dwelling after conversing with police by telephone. Police said the defendant and alleged victim were at residence just before 1 a.m. when they began to argue. Sears then allegedly displayed a double-barreled shotgun and pointed it at the victim, who fled the residence. A Mineral County deputy passing through the area observed the victim and transported her to a safe location before Keyser Police arrived to investigate the incident. Police said alcohol factored in the complaint. Sears remained jailed Wednesday at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail awaiting a hearing by a Mineral County magistrate.
