Keyser Police Cracking Down on Illegal Parking

Vehicles left parked on city property on North and South Water streets — commonly known as the FEMA lots — without proper registration and display of a motor vehicle inspection certificate will be issued notices of parking violation beginning Sunday, according to the Keyser Police Department. The Cumberland Times News reports Chief Karen Shoemaker said "this will start Sunday and If the infractions are not corrected or the vehicle is not removed within 72 hours of the notice, it will be towed at the owner's expense".

Under Keyser municipal code, an abandoned vehicle would be one that has expired motor vehicle inspection for a period of 60 days or more; a motor vehicle that does not display a motor vehicle inspection certificate; a vehicle that is not properly registered under West Virginia law or a motor vehicle that has been discarded, wrecked ruined, scraped, dismantled or is not serving a functional purpose.
