Kiosks to help Vehicle Emission Program

Maryland officials are rolling out a self-service program for the state’s Vehicle Emission Inspection Program. A new kiosk that will be demonstrated Friday will drivers to test their vehicles 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the Glen Burnie inspection station and at the Gaithersburg branch office. The two kiosks will supplement 18 existing VEIP inspection stations located in 13 counties and Baltimore city. It’s part of a one-year pilot program. Maryland Department of the Environment Secretary Ben Grumbles is scheduled to attend the demonstration, along with Deputy Transportation Secretary James Ports and Motor Vehicle Administrator Milton Chaffee.
