Large Amount Of Rainfall Having Impact On A Number Of Things

The Western Maryland region has literally been soaked this year with the rainfall through September already easily topping last year’s 12 month total. The amount of rain is starting to affect a number of things, from road projects to trees and the upcoming fall foliage that everyone looks forward to. According to the latest climate report from the National Weather Service, since Jan. 1, Maryland has had about 55 inches of rain, which is more than 25 inches above normal. Out on the roads, the Maryland State Highway Administration said a number of bridges were washed out this summer and the state had to delay various road projects.   Allegany County Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr. says the rain has wreaked havoc locally, causing property damage and other issues, and that has kept road and maintenance crews on high alert…
