LaVale Area Business Burglarized

On March 5, 2017 at approximately 1:15 P.M. the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to a business in the LaVale area in reference to an alarm. Upon arrival at the scene a deputy noticed an unoccupied vehicle parked along the roadway near the business. While completing a search of the business a broken window was discovered and it was learned that someone had entered the business and removed several items to include cash money. At that time the deputy noticed the same vehicle that had been parked along the roadway pass by the business. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator was identified as Robert Cannon Ruby of Middle River Maryland. Ruby was unable to accurately explain why his vehicle had been parked near the business. A warrant check was completed and it was learned that Ruby was currently wanted on an active arrest warrant for theft charges from Baltimore, Maryland. Ruby was taken into custody and transported to District Court for an initial bond hearing. Ruby was later committed to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond in reference to the warrant.

During the investigation of the burglary it was learned that a sum of money was taken from the business. Deputies had located the exact amount of money on Ruby when he was arrested. Other evidence was located at the scene to indicate that Ruby had entered the business and committed the crime. Charges are pending in reference to the Burglary.
