The Maryland General Assembly voted Thursday to override the governor's veto of the $15 minimum wage bill. The measure will raise Maryland's minimum wage to $15 by 2025. Democrats pushed for the increase, arguing workers deserve a living wage. The override comes about 24 hours after Governor Larry Hogan vetoed the bill, saying the measure would cost close to 100,000 jobs and put Maryland in a competitive disadvantage with neighboring states- pushing small businesses out of the state. The governor had offered a compromise proposal that would have phased in an increase of the minimum wage to $12.10 by 2022.

$11 is not that much, and is barely livable for some, especially if it’s the only income for a household. Given inflation every year, I can’t see $15 an hour by 2025 being as terrible to this area as people think it will be. Every year, restaurants raise their prices a little; every year, groceries, cost of living, taxes, goes up a little. Now, every year until 2025, wages will go up a little. So? Looks to me like things even out. Just mho.
