Leedy Named Officer of Year; Four New Officers Sworn In

One officer was honored and four new officers sworn in during ceremonies this week at Cumberland’s City Hall. Patrolman First Class Brett Leedy was named the 2014 Officer of the Year by the Cumberland Police. Police Chief Charles Hinnant announced that Leedy, who was named officer of the quarter in the third quarter of 2014, had been selected as officer of the year. Leedy was credited with handling 1,382 investigations, 70 arrests, serving 61 criminal summons, 19 arrest warrants and 15 juvenile arrests. He issued 752 traffic citations, 236 warnings and made 12 driving under the influence arrests. Hinnant said Leedy is viewed as a leader among his peers…
