Legislation Filed to Repeal ‘Rain Tax’

October 24th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Texas Governor Rick Perry just one of those strongly criticizing the state of Maryland’s so-called “rain tax” and now there is an effort to do away with it.  Howard and Carroll County Republican Senator Allan Kittleman has already filed legislation to repeal the requirement that Baltimore City and nine counties collect the storm water management fee.  He says the law is unnecessary, and has an attorney general's opinion to back up his argument- noting local governments could have collected this tax on a property's paved surfaces for more than 20 years.
