At approximately 855am officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 68 westbound near the Maryland Avenue exit. Officers arrived on the scene finding the vehicle near the Patterson Avenue Bridge. The other vehicle involved in the crash fled from the scene.

A total of 5 patients were transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by Tri-Towns EMS and Cumberland Fire Ambulance for non life threatening injuries. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Williams Street but the suspect fled the vehicle on foot. A positive identification was completed of the driver. Officers were able to locate Christian Leroy Liller standing outside of an East Second Street address.

Liller provided false information to the police upon them contacting him. Liller was placed under arrest for multiple traffic related offenses. Liller was later released from custody pending a trial in District Court.
