Lobbyists Formerly Introduced At Work Session

One of the two lobbyists hired by four Western Maryland counties- and one specifically chosen by Allegany County was formally introduced at a public work session on Tuesday afternoon. William Miles was selected by the Allegany County Commissioners to represent the county as part of a regional coalition, while three other western Maryland counties opted to retain Bruce Bereano.  Commissioners President Mike McKay, expressing concern with the controversial Bereano’s background including a conviction of mail fraud, has said that Allegany County will deal exclusively with Miles.  On Tuesday, Miles briefly discussed the top priorities for western Maryland heading the 2012 General Assembly session in Annapolis: PlanMaryland and a possible increase in the flush tax. Miles, a veteran lobbyist and longtime staff in Annapolis, said bluntly that the 7 most populated counties essentially have a monopoly on key issues…
