Local Businessman Passes Away

Norman Duane Messman, Sr., 80, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the home of his daughter.

A United States Army Veteran, Norman retired from the Maryland National Guard and also retired from the N.A.DA., in McLean, Va., as manager of Automotive Consulting. Norman had Messman Buick Dealership in Motor City and was also employed at the First National Bank where he served as Vice President. He was a member of the Cumberland Elks Lodge 65; the Cumberland Kiwanis Club; and the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce.

riends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce McBride officiating.

Garland W. Whitacre,78, of LaVale passed away Friday, Oct 28th at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. He was an entrepreneur building his own CPA firm on the National Highway in LaVale, later to become Whitacre & Fike P.A. which he managed until his retirement in 1998. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home in Cumberland on Monday Oct. 31st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the Central Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at 11 a.m.
