Concerns continue locally over the possible impact of some of the recommended cuts contained in President Donald Trump’s budget proposal- with much focus on the possibility of losing the after-school programs. Although state and local dollars are the primary funding sources for public schools in Maryland and most states, federal funds do pay for some programs like the after-school activities at Braddock and Washington middle schools. Released last month, the president's proposed budget contained a $9 billion — or 13.5 percent — cut for the U.S. Department of Education.
