Members of the local legislative delegation, in a press release this week, announced they are working hard to fight legislation filed in the General Assembly that would radically alter Maryland’s transportation funding process and virtually eliminate the ability for projects in Western Maryland to be funded in the future. House Bill 1013 would require the implementation of a new “scoring system” for all transportation projects in order to be funded. This scoring system is weighted overwhelmingly towards mass transit projects and areas where the elimination of traffic congestion is the primary project goal. Delegate Jason Buckel tells WCBC News that the legislation, like several other democrat sponsored bills this session, is nothing more than a thinly-veiled effort by Democratic legislators to strip power from Governor Hogan and in retaliation for the decision to not fund the Red Line in Baltimore…
