Local Officials Urge Residents to be Prepared for Disasters

September is National Preparedness Month- and local emergency management officials are urging citizens to make a concerted effort to be as preparded as possible for any natural disasters or storms that could hit the region.  Allegany County Emergency Management is  offering online tips and education for residents. Susan Lee, the county’s emergency management division chief, during last week’s meeting of the county commissioners,  said all citizens  are being urged to participate in developing a disaster preparation plan for themselves and their families. Each week during September, the emergency management department will post a portion of a preparedness booklet online to offer tips for emergency preparedness. Lee said that western Maryland has experienced that gamut when it comes to emergencies in recent years…
