Lt. Governor Continues Search For Heroin Solution

As the heroin crisis continues to rack up overdose deaths in Maryland, Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford is continuing to look for solutions. There are now reports that Allegany County has already seen a total of 20 overdose deaths in the four months of the year. Rutherford, who has headed the governor’s  Heroin and Opioid Emergency Task Force conducted town hall meetings in every region of the state last year to solicit input and guidance from a wide variety of sources throughout Maryland, including educators, families of those suffering from addiction, and other vested stakeholders.  While some have argued that the state simply needs to increase funding for law enforcement and health departments to address the growing drug problem, Rutherford said the issues go much deeper than that…
