MACO Kicks Off Annual Summer Conference

The Maryland Association of Counties (MACO) kicked off its annual summer conference on Wednesday in Ocean City- and there is once again a full contingent from Allegany County in attendance.  All three County Commissioners, Bill Valentine; Creade Brodie Jr and Jack Shade made the trip along with County Administrator David Eberly and the county’s Director of Economic and Community Development Matt Diaz.  Aside from budget and transportation issues, the conference will focus on implementing the medical marijuana program, the heroin crisis, and changes to the pre-trial system in Maryland.  Governor Hogan will address the conference in its final day on Saturday.  Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett is the current president of MACO and he says MACO’s relationship with Governor Hogan is strong despite disagreements with Hogan during the legislative session over some key issues…
