Major Anti-Drug Rally Held At Canal Place Sunday

A large crowd on hand Sunday at Canal Place for a major anti-drug rally that featured former New York Mets all-star Darryl Strawberry. The event, known as Project Hope, was designed as  an effort to raise awareness and help those affected by drug abuse learn what help is available. Like many communities across the nation, Allegany County has seen a tremendous increase in the usage of heroin and other opioid-based medications in the past year. Strawberry, a member of the 1986 world championship Mets team, struggled with drugs and alcohol from the earliest days of his playing career.  His presentations, which he gives across the country, are largely faith-based with his message being to learn from your journey and to fight every day against the temptation of drugs…
