Allegany College of Maryland and the Allegany County American Job Center will sponsor the largest local multiple employer job fair of the year.
The event will be held Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon in the ACM gymnasium.
The job fair offers free parking in the lot adjacent to the Physical Education Center and free shuttle bus transportation from the Queen City Drive shopping center near the Rent-A-Center beginning at 8:30 a.m. and operating every half-hour throughout the event.
Nearly 60 businesses will be looking to fill more than 500 full-time and part-time positions in a variety of fields, including customer service, health care, production, information technology and warehousing.
Job seekers should be dressed professionally, bring copies of resumes and be prepared to tell employers why they are best qualified to meet the employers’ hiring needs.
The American Job Center, 138 Baltimore St., will be closed Oct. 9 for the Columbus Day holiday and during the job fair.
The center is typically open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help job seekers create resumes, write cover letters, complete applications and view available positions on the Maryland Workforce Exchange website, www.mwejobs.maryland.gov.
