UPDATE: One person is dead following the mishap, and as of 9:30 PM, fire and rescue units were clearing the scene. Maryland State Highway Administration has been providing additional assistance with traffic flow.
INITIAL REPORT
Allegany County 911 says that there has been a motor vehicle collision with what they are calling "heavy entrapment" on Route 135 at the bottom of Backbone Mountain near Bloomington.
Route 135 is closed at that location and we are advising those who need to travel in that area to find an alternate route.
Allegany County Sheriff's Deputies are on the scene, along with a number of fire departments and rescue squads.
