Man Arrested After Assault Involving Knife

On August 8, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Baltimore Street at North Waverly Terrace for a reported disturbance involving a knife.  When officers arrived they made contact with a female witness and a male victim.  During an investigation into the matter officers learned from the male victim that he was having a disagreement with his girlfriend, when he was approached by Eric Alan Harris.  After being approached by Harris there was a brief argument at which time Harris pulled a knife from his pocket with the blade exposed.   The victim told police that when Harris opened the knife he took up a bladed stance and if he was going to use the knife against him.  The victim and the female were able to get away from Harris and call police.  As a result of this incident, Harris was arrested at the scene.  The knife was also found on Harris at the time of his arrest.  Harris was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Harris was held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Charges: 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, Dangerous weapon with the intent to injure and Concealing a dangerous weapon.
