Man Sentenced In 1984 Sexual Assault Case

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced Thursday. November 10, 2011, that Ralph James Clark age 58, of Cumberland, Maryland was sentenced by the Honorable Judge Timothy Finan to 1 year in the Allegany County Detention Center, and six months suspended for Fourth Degree Sex Offense. Upon release Mr. Clark will be placed on 5 years supervised probation, register as a sex offender for fifteen years, have no contact with the victim, and violate no laws.

The case stemmed from an incident in April 1984 in which Mr. Clark engaged in sexual contact with a six year old female.  An investigation was conducted by the Combined County Criminal Investigation Unit who identified Mr. Clark as the suspect. 

Prosecuting the case for the State was Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Jacqueline R. Brandlen.  Mr. Clark was represented by George McKinley, Esq.
