December 6th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

On Tuesday, troopers from the McHenry Barrack responded to the area of Arrowhead Lane in McHenry, for a report of a suicidal subject.  The subject initially had called the Garrett County 911 Center multiple times asking for help, stating that he was homicidal and suicidal. Upon arrival of police officers at the scene, the subject exited his residence, holding what appeared to be a “molotov cocktail” incendiary device, where he verbally threatened officers on scene, set the device down on the front porch, and barricaded himself inside the residence; refusing to exit the residence. He continued to make threatening statements to officers on scene. The suspect had threatened officers on scene, stating that the area was “booby-trapped”.  Attempts to have the suspect exit the residence were conducted, in which the suspect later fled from his residence through the back door, and entered the back door to the residence that was adjacent to his.  He eventually exited the front of the adjacent residence, where he was taken into custody.  A search by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office and Bomb Squad determined the residences involved were safe. The suspect was identified as Jeremy Arthur LeClaire,  35 Y/O, from Worcester, Massachusetts, who was temporarily living in Garrett County. Once in custody and placed in a Maryland State Police vehicle, LeClaire kicked and damaged electronics equipment mounted inside police vehicle.  The suspect was transported to Western Maryland Medical Center in Cumberland for an Emergency Evaluation.  An arrest warrant was obtained and he was later transported to the District Court Commissioner in Allegany County.   LeClair was charged with the following:  Phoney Destructive Device, Burglary 4th Degree, and Malicious Destruction of Property. Assistance on scene was provided by members of the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office and Bomb Squad, and the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.
