The Maryland House of Delegates is scheduled to take up a measure to allow medical marijuana.

The House is convening for a weekend session on Saturday, as the General Assembly nears gets closer to its scheduled adjournment on April 8.

Delegates have until Monday night to pass any bill they want the Senate to consider in the final two weeks of the legislative term.

The measure would create a commission to oversee a medical marijuana program in the state at academic research centers.

The measure is being sponsored by Delegate Dan Morhaim, D-Baltimore County.
