Maryland Ave. 7-11 Robbed

On Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at approximately 1:18 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 7-11 Convenience store located at 400 Maryland Avenue in reference to an armed robbery.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with two store employees.  One of the employees stated that a black male suspect entered the store with his face covered.  The employee stated that violates store rules and he told the suspect he had to uncover his face.  The suspect then brandished a silver in color revolver and pointed it at the employee and demanded money.  The employee complied and gave him money from both cash registers.  The suspect then demanded the cordless phone from the store in an attempt to prevent a call to the police. 

The suspect exited the store and fled on foot. The second employee was in the back of the business during the incident and could not provide any additional information.  Neither employee was injured during the incident.

Cumberland Police Officers, including a K-9 Officer arrived and immediately began to canvas the area.  C3I Investigator arrived on the scene for investigation.

Video surveillance of the store was reviewed which captured the suspect wearing a dark bandana on his face, sunglasses, white shirt with dark sleeves, dark pants.  The suspect is a “stocky” black male, approximately 5’10”.
