Maryland Comptroller Says Tax Hikes Would Be A Mistake

Although revenues from Maryland’s income taxes for the first two months of the fiscal year were better the projected, the economic news remains bleak for the most part according to Comptroller Peter Franchot. Franchot says the state is still looking at a one billion dollar budget deficit next year and that has many lawmakers seriously considering a variety of tax hikes. Franchot says increasing taxes, particularly the gas tax, would be a tremendous mistake and kill any job growth efforts…
