Maryland Education Taking A Hit Due To Maintenance Of Effort Laws

The Allegany County Commissioners received a briefing on legislative issues impacting local governments when the executive director of the Maryland Association of Counties made a presentation during the public work session. Michael Sanderson touched on a wide range of issues, with most of them directly dealing with fiscal matters. Sanderson pointed out that education is taking a hit this year and probably beyond as a result of the maintenance of effort laws on the books.
