Maryland Farmers Called to Plant Cover Crops

A record number of Maryland farmers are signed on to plant cover crops this fall across a record amount of acreage. The Maryland Department of Agriculture announced 234 farmers are signed on for the Cover Crop Program for winter grains, accounting for 101,736 acres of farmland. According to the MDA, in all, the state has approved 607,000 acres of winter grains requested by 1,860 farmers, 152 more than last year.
