Maryland Food Bank Expects Need For Assistance To Be Great

November 13th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Food Bank expects a higher number of those in need of assistance this Thanksgiving, and beyond statewide.  The reality is that about two in five of those who show up at soup kitchens, food pantries and distribution centers are children.  Kate Sam with the Maryland Food Bank says that many families in need do not qualify for the food stamp program are having to turn to other alternatives such as their local food bank for assistance. To make a donation locally, you can contact the Western Maryland Food Bank at 301-722-2797.
