Maryland Gubernatorial Race Getting Closer

With a little more than a month to go before the general election, a new poll on Maryland's gubernatorial race finds the contest between Lt. Governor Anthony Brown and Republican Larry Hogan getting closer. The Gonzales Research and Associates poll was commissioned by the Maryland My Maryland PAC, which is independent, but whose leaders support Larry Hogan. It shows that Brown has 47-percent, Hogan 43-percent. Brown's 4-percent lead is just above the margin of error of the poll at plus or minus 3.5.-percent. After the primary in June, Brown held an 18-percent lead. The telephone poll of 805 likely voters was conducted from September 16-23. Leaders of Maryland My Maryland PAC promise to spend independently to help Hogan. Not surprisingly, supporters for each candidate had widely different takes on the poll results.
