Legislation to repeal Maryland's death penalty was approved Friday by.the House Judiciary Committee. The vote was 14-8 in favor of the measure, with seven Republicans and Democratic Delegate Kevin Kelly voting against the bill- which now goes to the full House of Delegates next week where a final vote is expected.
