Maryland Planners Schedule Cumberland Focus Group

July 10th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Planning Commissioners Association (MPCA) and the Maryland Department of Planning are hosting focus group meetings in the cities of Salisbury and Cumberland on July 12 and 18, respectively.  The meetings are part of a larger outreach project that the MPCA is conducting to learn about how it can enhance its services and assist planning efforts in Maryland. The project kicked off on June 2. To date, the MPCA has completed two focus groups in Calvert and Frederick counties.  The project also has an online survey available on the project website.

The MPCA is very interested in hearing from Maryland's planning community, including planning commissioners and board of appeals members, local planning and other government staff, elected officials, and non-profit and other private industry representatives. The MPCA is collecting this valuable input to create the most effective workplan. Those who engage in the outreach project will have an opportunity to learn about and express their views on what the MPCA can do to enhance its services. The project will also provide participants with networking opportunities and a forum to discover what other jurisdictions are doing to ensure best planning practices in their communities.

A meeting will be hosted from 5-7 PM at the following location:

Tuesday July 18

Allegany College Continuing Education Building
12401 Willowbrook Rd, Cumberland
