Maryland Rates Among Worst States For Its Business Tax Climate

According to rankings complied by the Tax Foundation, Maryland rates among the worst states for its business tax climate.  The news is hardly considered surprising as any number of similar reports ranking the state poorly when it comes to addressing the private sector have been issued this year.  Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley strongly disagrees, and has routinely cited a Chamber of Commerce report that ranks Maryland No. 1 in entrepreneurship- as well as noting Maryland’s stature in income and public education, its AAA bond rating and its leadership in women-owned businesses. The state’s top fiscal officer, Comptroller Peter Franchot- as is often the case- isn’t buying the governors arguments. He said the O’Malley administration has focused so much time and effort on social issues such as same sex marriage and the dream act- job creation has gotten lost in the shuffle…
