Maryland Senate Focusing on Budget

March 6th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Maryland state lawmakers began the ninth week of their 2012 session Monday night, with the Senate expected to focus much of its debate on a state budget. Senate President Mike Miller  said he hopes senators can approve their version of a budget this week.  Delegates and senators have set a deadline of April 2, four weeks from today, to approve the final budget.  Miller Friday described the budget process as "pure hell" in trying to get 24 senators to agree to a package of spending cuts and tax hikes to close a $1.1-billion deficit.
