The Maryland State House was struck by lightning when storms rolled through Annapolis Friday afternoon. Governor Larry Hogan was there at the time, and gave this account on his Facebook page.

"I ran across the street with my security detail, where we met firefighters who had immediately responded. We ran up to the dome, which appeared to be spewing smoke" Hogan, who also said he was grateful for the building's outdoor sprinklers, later said that there was no fire. It appears that there is no serious damage.
