Maryland State Superintendent Tours Our Schools

Maryland State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Lillian Lowery, toured several schools in Western Maryland on Wednesday to view the cutting edge educational practices taking place, with a special emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).  Both Allegany and Garrett Counties have developed STEM programs that are designed to strengthen workforce and economic development.  Dr. Lowery made stops at the GEARS Building in Garrett County and had planned to visit Allegany High School. As a result of a bomb threat at Allegany, the superintendent instead visited John Humbird Elementary. Having visited Washington County last month, the superintendent has now observed firsthand the STEM programs being utilized by western Maryland’s public school systems….
