Maryland Superintendent of Schools Dr Lillian Lowery is beginning her second year on the job- and she reports that overall her transition from neighboring Delaware to Maryland has been a smooth one. The 58 -year-old with more than 36 years of teaching and administrative experience in several states, took over in Maryland last July 1. In year one, Lowery has had to navigate though some major transitions- with Maryland schools making the switch in its curriculum for all grades in English and math; making a a change in state tests; and instituting a new teacher evaluation system. Helping students more college ready as well as new technologies will be priorities in the coming year…
