With winter only about a third over, Maryland has spent all of the normal salt amount for the entire season. The figure is approximately $70 million dollars. According to the State Highway Administration, the annual budget is $46 million. The SHA has used 288,000 tons of salt so far, and currently there are 260,000 tons left for any upcoming winter weather events during the remainder of the season.
