Maryland’s Unemployment Continues to Rise

June 12th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

After Maryland's unemployment filings jumped by more than 10,000- including 481 from Allegany County- Maryland Labor Secretary Tiffany Robinson the numbers may be skewed because many families went on vacation during Memorial Day weekend and filed claims the following week.  Appearing on WBAL Radio, Robinson said her department hasn’t met the federal guidelines of paying 87% of its claims within 21 days of the application but is making progress…

More than 759,000 people in Maryland have filed for unemployment since March 14. Marylanders can call the Unemployment Insurance Claim Center weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 410-949-0022.
