Maryland’s Unemployment Rate Raises

According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, Maryland's unemployment rate increased to 7.1 percent, a one-tenth percent increase in the month of August- the same month the state's economy added 1,400 jobs. According to WBAL News, Maryland's decline of 1.4% since January of 2007 is the second worst in the region after the state of Delaware. Maryland also was one of 26 states where unemployment increased in August.
