Mayor and City Council Approve First Readings of $40 Million Budget

There are some fiscal challenges that will need to be addressed- but those are not leading to any tax or fee increases. The Cumberland Mayor and City Council this week approved a number of first readings that will lead to the adoption in two weeks of the city’s $40 million operating budget for FY 2016-2017.  Although City Administrator Jeff Rhodes emphasized that the lack of increases is solely for FY ’17- Mayor Brian Grim said anytime a budget can be put together with no negative fiscal impact on city residents- it’s a positive development…
