Mayor Frustrated With Canal Place Leadership

Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim, despite being frustrated with leadership at the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority, stopped short of calling for any personnel changes. The mayor, who sits on the Authority Board, said he was frustrated with the authority apparently placing blame for its fiscal woes on the city and the county. He emphasized that both governments have been more than accommodating in providing funding in recent years. Grim tells WCBC News that even with the current budget issues and a seeming lack of progress with the Footer Dye Works building- he remains optimistic that Canal Place will be a major part of the economic future for the downtown area and all of Allegany County…
