Mayor Hopes To Put Forth Plan Of Action To Revive Carver Community Center

Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC News that he hopes to secure some answers in the coming weeks and put forth a plan of action to revive the Carver Community Center. Morriss, who was sworn one year ago, said that the building has been on his priority list since taking office- but notes he has run into more than a few dead ends and little cooperation from former members of the Carver Board. At the city’s last meeting of 2019, a citizen asked the City Council to find out what happened to the former Carver High School and nearly $2 million of grant monies that were appropriated for upgrades at the now-vacant facility. Although largely dormant and deteriorating in the past decade, the mayor remains optimistic that the facility could be restored into a viable functioning community center…
