McKay Cautions Departments Seeking Additional Funds

Prior to the start of Allegany County’s budget process this year, the county commissioners made it known that the ongoing fiscal struggle and depressed economy would make it impossible for the county to provide any budget increases for the various departments and agencies it funds. The overwhelming majority of those departments presented flat budgets- and in some cases, requested less than last year. There were a few- board of education, arts council, canal place and county library- that requested additional funds for next year. Commissioners President Mike McKay cautioned those departments seeking additional dollars during this economically distressed period…
