McKay Wants Priority to Saving Teaching Positions

It’s another difficult budget year for the Allegany County Board of Education with more significant state cuts on the way. Although the board has not yet had to impact personnel by way of furloughs or layoffs- there has been a steady reduction of positions – with that figure expected to exceed more than a hundred over the last few years. During the board’s budget presentation to the county commissioners last week- Superintendent David Cox discussed some of the cuts that have been made.
