UPDATED: McMullen Highway Accident

     On 1/4/16 @ approx. 3:15 p.m., Deputies from the Allegany Sheriff's Office responded to McMullen Highway in Rawlings for a motor vehicle crash with injuries.  Investigation revealed that the driver of a tractor trailer, Kevin Shard (49 years old from Belleville, PA), failed to reduce speed while southbound and struck a passenger vehicle stopped to make a turn onto Bier Lane.  The second vehicle, operated by Brandon Durbin (22 years old from Keyser, WV), was struck by the tractor trailer and pushed into the northbound lane where it collided with a passenger car travelling northbound, operated by Robert Redman (38 years old from Keyser, WV) and then collided with a second passenger vehicle also travelling northbound, operated by Amanda Jones (28 years old, Westernport).  All parties, with the exception of SHARP, were transported to the WMHS-RMC for non-life threatening injuries.

     The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) of the Maryland State Police, the Natural Resource Police (NRP), Rawlings VFD, Cresaptown VFD/EMS and the Short Gap VFD. The Sheriff's Office was also assisted by the State Highway Administration (SHA).  McMullen Highway was closed approximately one (1) hours.
