MD Business Group Gives High Marks To Three Members Of Local Legislative Delegation

July 9th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

A Maryland business group rating state lawmakers in its annual scorecard released last week gave high marks to three of the four members making up the local legislative delegation.  In the Roll Call report it’s been doing since 1987, Maryland Business for Responsive Government gave Delegate Leroy Myers a perfect 100% score for 2013; Delegate Wendell Beitzel 88% and State Senator George Edwards 80%. However the lone democrat representing the western Maryland region, Delegate Kevin Kelly scored just 57%.  As far as cumulative scores, which considers a wide range of business related votes over several years, Myers scores an 88%; Edwards 84%; Beitzel 83% and Kelly 65%. The two democrats leading the General Assembly both fared poorly, with Senate President Mike Miller with a 40% score and House Speaker Michael Busch at just 29%.
