Democratic Comptroller Peter Franchot made some waves among fellow Democrats this summer when he announced that he will not endorse his party’s nominee in the Maryland governor’s race. Franchot is sticking by that position saying this week that he would likely remain neutral in the race between Ben Jealous and Republican Governor Larry Hogan. While not endorsing Hogan either, most believe that Comptroller leans in his direction as the two men have been allies on many key issues. Franchot says the partisan politics on the national and state levels is getting extreme- with candidates losing sight of the real issues- choosing party over the wishes of their constituents…
